Family-to-Family is a free 12-week course for family members and caregivers of individuals with a severe mental illness. It is designed to facilitate a better understanding of mental illness and to increase coping and advocacy skills.

The class is taught by two NAMI-trained volunteers who have been there. It includes presentations, discussion, interactive exercises, and a guest speaker.

Contact us at NAMIAurora@namiaurora.org for more information and to register for the next Family-to-Family class.

NAMI Aurora is in the planning stage for the next Family-to-Family class. In the interim, we suggest you contact one of the following NAMI Colorado affiliates as they are offering the following confirmed classes:

NAMI Arapahoe/Douglas – (8 week program) – March 31 through May 19

NAMI Jeffco – (8 week program) – May 12 through June 30

NAMI Aurora also offers an educational program called Caminantes. It is specially designed to meet the cultural and linguistic needs of our Latino families in Aurora.

Caminantes is conducted in Spanish with attention placed on the influence of cultural values and special needs of Latino families.

The content of this educational program consists of  three 2 hour sessions. Families completing this program leave with an overview of the common mental health disorders, treatment, and services offered in Colorado.
